Epic gems in 4.3 revisited

So last week, with the launch of the 4.3 PTR, news broke that epic gems will in fact be transmutable. Also of note – jewelcrafter prismatic gems have been buffed on the PTR by +10 apiece. This brings the bonus gained from jewelcrafting up to +81, to give the same bonus as before, which is of course comparable to the other professions. This would make JC pretty overpowered in the short term if it was as Ghostcrawler had originally stated (that it might take the entire patch before you can replace all of your red gems with epics), were it not for the transmutes. These fill me with confidence that before too long, epic gems will be accessible to all (and after a few weeks the prices may be reasonable enough to buy them on the AH).

It’s a solid change for the better as far as I’m concerned and I’m glad Blizzard are doing this. I don’t know if it was the plan from the start and Ghostcrawler just didn’t convey the entire message as well as he might have, or if this is a response to the community raising points like the ones I did, but this is definitely right.
